Dual-band routers—those able to transmit on both 2.4-GHz and 5.0-GHz—are becoming more and more essential for sharing speedier connections between multiple devices. Each of these devices cost more than budget router options but they’ll improve your home network with  above-average throughput and range. What does that mean for you? Dual-Band Wireless Routers Compared

Four routers on our list -- the Belkin N900, Cisco Linksys E4200v2 EnGenius XtraRange ESR600H, and the Netgear N900 -- transmit on both 2.4-GHz and 5.0-GHz frequencies, while the D-Link 1000 DIR-645 works only over 2.4-GHz. Here's how each device performed on our speed tests.
