WiMax Spreads: 4G Coming to Philly, Chicago, Eight other Markets in 09
October 22nd, 2009 by Todd Haselton
In a partnership with Comcast and Sprint, Clearwire today announced the next ten markets that its WiMax fourth generation network will launch in. Clearwire’s service is called CLEAR while Sprint and Comcast both dub their own services as simply Sprint 4G and Comcast 4G.
In late October or early November, Clearwire, Comcast, and Sprint will activate self-branded services in Chicago and Philadelphia. Then in December, all three providers will expand to Seattle.
Also in November, CLEAR and Sprint 4G will be available in Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, North Carolina as well as in Dallas/Fortworth and San Antonio, Texas.
Get your snorkels ready: Sprint and Clearwire will also both offer WiMax in Honolulu and Maui in December, just in time for the snowbirds.
