Wi-Fi Packin’ BlackBerry Curve 8530 Coming to Verizon?
July 29th, 2009 by Todd Haselton
Verizon Wireless customers may soon have two BlackBerry Curves to choose between. Rumors are swirling around the net that the carrier will pick up the new BlackBerry Curve 8530, which will reportedly feature both 3G and Wi-Fi connections.
Earlier this week, T-Mobile announced that it would sell the Curve 8520, but that version of the device does not sport a 3G radio. But the rumored 8530 has both data bases covered, which could make it an attractive alternative to the BlackBerry Tour ($49.99).
The biggest trade-off for some will likely be the lower resolution 2MP camera on the 8530, as opposed to the 3.2MP one on the BlackBerry Tour and Storm. The 8530 will also supposedly feature an optical trackpad in place of the popular trackball, which we have yet to test out.
We’d welcome the Curve 8530 with open arms on Verizon Wireless, especially if it’s cheaper than the Tour and priced in the sub $99 range, but pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed.
