I second that Christian. Seen in context, Asus' 701 debut back in late 2007 was a very bold move, and to a large extent I think that if you want to know what a netbook really is, go back and take a look at the first range of eee pcs.

It seems like the netbook market is now becoming so gourmet as to walk the line between netbook and notebook. While I don't personally agree with paying upwards of US$600 for a netbook, I think that the popularity of these little machines can't be disputed.

thank god for people like roberto perez who make the world a better place with their thoughtful analysis and their courteousness ;-)

asus has taken a gamble with the eee pc and shaken up a market where the players have pushed the same stupid products to market, either going cheap for retail or pumping up the specs to the point of the ridiculous.

netbooks are here to stay and they will keep taking a large chunk out of the notebook market, whether people like roberto perez like it or not.
