Which Smartphone Makes the Best Gift? Expert Roundtable Video

Few pieces of technology are as personal as a smartphone, which can make choosing one as a gift for a loved one a difficult proposition. Does she want a huge screen? Or is she more interested in the latest games and apps? From the iPhone 5 and Galaxy Note II to the latest Windows Phone, six of our editors recently recently sat down with Manoush Zomorodi to discuss which smartphones would make the best holiday gifts. Check out the video right now!

Daniel Berg, a staff writer, loves his Apple iPhone 5. Not only is it thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4S, but it also boasts a larger and more vibrant screen, lightning-fast 4G LTE speeds, a new and improved camera and Facebook integration.

Staff Writer Sherri Smith doesn’t want to part with her Samsung Galaxy S III. With its slim and comfortable design, fun sharing features and fast camera, the Galaxy S III just might be the premier Android phone.

Editor-in-Chief Mark Spoonauer talked about the massive Galaxy Note II from Samsung. This combination phone and tablet boasts a huge and vibrant high-def display, quad-core performance and (as you’ll see in the video) a cool new way to multitask.

The Nokia Lumia 920, a Windows Phone, was Reviews Editor Mike Prospero’s choice. Mike appreciates how unique Windows Phone 8’s tile UI looks when compared to Android and iOS and integrated wireless charging.

Chao Li, a web content producer, brought the Google Nexus 4. With its sharp and colorful HD screen, speedy and smooth performance and Siri-like Google Now voice assistant, the Nexus 4 looks like its ready to go toe-to-toe with the iPhone 5.

Last but certainly not least, the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD made an appearance courtesy of Staff Writer Dan Howley. He gushed about its epic battery life and ttractive and durable Kevlar design.

With so many options these days, choosing a smartphone as a gift can quickly turn into a chore. Our editors’ roundtable discussion will help you narrow the list — and maybe even convince you to choose a new phone for yourself! Take some time to watch the full video above, and save yourself a headache when you finally head out to make a purchase.
