Where Art Thou CloudBook?!

cloudbookUpdated: Our CloudBook finally arrived! We have been counting down the days until February 15 – the day the Everex CloudBook should hit shelves. And finally the day has come. But where art thou CloudBook? The only small Linux laptop I see is the EeePC sitting next to me and sitting at the desk of my partner in crime. Our review unit, which was expected to arrive yesterday, is no where to be found. The FedEx and UPS guys all know my name. I have even called the local Wal-Marts (even though I know they are only being offered on Walmart.com). They don’t know anything about a “Cardbook” or “Cloudlaptop.” ZaReason, the only authorized retailer apart from Wal-Mart, has posted this to their site:

We have currently sold our initial batch of Cloudbooks. Please check back after Feb 15th to see if we have received more stock by then. Thank you for your interest.

It’s not at clear at this time whether ZaReason has actually shipped CloudBooks or just sold them. So far, we can’t find any record of a consumer or a journalist receiving one. ZaReason did receive at least one, since they posted a picture of it on their site. But apart from that, things aren’t looking good. But we here at LAPTOP are hopeful. As soon as we get our hands on the Everex laptop we will update you. Stay tuned for an unboxing…hopefully sometime soon.
