This week was the one Apple fans have been waiting for all year long, the iPhone 5s and 5c, along with the visually transformative iOS 7 were released. For starters, we have a full review of the brand new operating system. While that’s tough to follow, we also tested out three competing smartphones: the LG G2 and Motorola Droid Maxx on Verizon Wireless as well as the Nokia Lumia 925 on AT&T. We also critiqued the sleek Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus along with two potential USB monitors–the ASUS MB168B+ and AOC e1659fwu–to pair with its 3200 x 1800. Finally, ASUS’s latest Android tablet, the MeMO Pad FHD 10, was taken for a spin along with two snazzy-looking Logitech gaming headsets. Be sure to catch up with everything we reviewed below.
Colorful, stark and tres minimaliste, Apple's iOS 7 represents an extreme makeover for a mobile platform that has sported the same look since President George Bush was in office and Hannah Montana was in season one. Over the years Apple has added many features to its software, but the overall aesthetic and navigation has largely remained the same. That all changes with iOS 7, but has Apple gone far enough to narrow the user experience gap with Android, or has it gone too far?
