Ah, Black Friday. The one day a year when it’s socially acceptable for Americans to huddle together in makeshift encampments outside of their favorite department stores, breathlessly anticipating the moment when a scrawny teenager releases the door locks, and in an instant cast aside any pretenses of human decency in an effort to grab a 52-inch TV that’s been marked down $100. It’s truly a magical time of year.
If that sounds like your kind of party, then you’re in luck. Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, is having a weekend long Black Friday sale spanning from Thanksgiving night through the Nov. 27. Hot ticket items include a 15-inch, 1.6-GHz dual-core AMD-powered HP 2000-329WM notebook for just $248 and a Kindle Touch for $79. Need a new smartphone? Walmart has you covered there too, offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of any smartphone and a two-year contract. Unfortunately, iPhones aren’t included in the deal.
But if the thought of having your eyes gouged by an enraged octogenarian who insists on tussling with you over a pair of Beats headphones sounds like something you could do without, you can also get your Black Friday shopping done online. This year Walmart is offering a host of tech deals online at Walmart.com. Sales on electronics will begin at midnight on Black Friday and, like the in-store sales, list throughout the weekend.
