Actually, not to me. The first thing that strikes me about the X10 is how similar it’s going to cost with the iPad. With all the whiz-bang these guys are throwing in to match or supersede the much berated Apple product, we are most likely looking at the ballpark figure of over 400 USD, at least. At this price, unless buyers have the inherent need for a touchscreen (artistically inclined) or for the sheer gee-whiz factor (fat wallets), most of them would rather be sitting down with a cheap netbook.

That is, unless you can sell the Android slate as being MORE ORIGINAL, and MORE FUN than the iPad. That’s going to take a lot of brainwashing and mind-fucking. And mind-fucking, I’ll tell you, isn’t fun, not even if it’s from someone other than Microsoft or Apple.

Actually Counsel the Ipad does have an IPS screen. The Ipad is a well designed product that does exactly what Apple wants it to do. It is a beautiful screen that is very responsive. I spent several hours playing on my brother’s Ipad the other day. Yes it is a big iPod Touch that sell lots of Apple apps via their store. Truth is that if you can’t produce a better product than Apple you should get out of the ball game. If Viliv wants to create a Ipod killer they need to provided a product that is as good if not better. I would hope they put a great screen in it as well as the rest of the package which it appears that they are doing. There is really only room for a few great products on the market. Ipad is already one of them. HP is working very hard behind the scenes to revamp the HP slate with WebOS. I think they have the resources to create a great product and it too will most likely feature an IPS screen. I would love to see the X10 as a true conpetitor to the Ipad and HP Slate. Ipad has their store, the X10 must come compatible with the Android store or it is dead, and mark my words you will see an HP store also based off of WebOS. They may do a joint venture with Amazon, Walmart, or CinemaNow but it will happen. I am anything but an Apple lover and will wait until a great competitor exists. That being said, it has been sad to watch so many executives in all of Apples competitors get caught with their pants down on the tablet/slate market. Pathetic, many of them should be fired for such poor vision.

I think its funny that so many people can be conned by one man! Steve Jobs is without a doubt the best conman I have EVER seen in action He really does prove the point it is possible to fool ALL your disciples ALL the time.

IF you want to spend £700 on a device that, whilst it has a “nice” screen is so locked down by dogma and lack of function, that it is actually little more than a big Ipod touch, then go ahead and part with your hard earned!

I will be spending my money on the device that gives me, VALUE for money, the flexibility to work in a manner that suits me, and without loss of web content! at present this looks like a clear leader to me.

I really cannot see the disadvantages I very much doubt anyone is going to use one of these things as their primary “puter” so the screen issue is going to have a minimal impact and frankly I think the benefits of IPS is somewhat oversold given the type of device the iPad is people simply will not be using them to the degree they use a Desktop, Laptop or Net-book.

Negative, because some of us just hate Apple no matter what. If Viliv X10 would have at least the same screen as iPad, I would say “wow! I’m gonna get one”, but unfortunately many manufacturers know that people are not going to pay much attention to why their screen looks weird. iPad has an IPS screen no matter what you’re saying – this is the fact and it is much better than even most laptops have. In most laptops manufacturers put the cheapest TN panel, just some of them like Dell XPS have IPS screen which is much better talking about color gammut, blacks, viewing angles. iPad doesn’t have the IPS screen, and why would you pay for resolution your eye can’t see? Talk about a lack of efficiency… Sounds like you care about what a device looks like rather than the function it provides…

Full web experience is NOT seeing blank spaces where flash items exist.

Your mileage may vary, but why do you need validation for your device?

Grow up and realize people want different stuff and that what is “right” for you may be “wrong” for others–all without “invalidating” your choice.
