Video: Samsung Infuse 4G Vs. HP Veer 4G Size Battle, The Public Speaks

May 13, 2011 06:31 PM EDT by Brian Oliver Bennett, LAPTOP Senior Writer

With the launch of the HP Veer 4G and Samsung Infuse 4G, a lot of people have been wondering how big is too big for a smartphone–and how small is too small. Barely taller than a stick of gum, the $99 Veer 4G running webOS is the tiniest smartphone we’ve tested. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the $199 Infuse 4G’s massive 4.5-inch display makes it the biggest Android handset yet. (The 5-inch Dell Streak was more of a tablet in our book).

We hit the New York pavement with a video camera in hand to get reactions from real people. As you can imagine, comparisons with Apple’s iPhone 4 definitely came up. Check out the video to see what folks had to say.

Somehow I kind of figured that’s how men and women would react to those 2 very divergent smartphones. Although I really don’t like the HP Veer, I think having choice for consumers is always a good thing. Now, if only I could get that beautiful Infuse without paying full out of contract pricing…
