I was torn between iPhone2 and BlackBerry Bold as a replacement for my current BlackBerry 7290. Then I saw your video. I've done a lot of digging and this phone (if it delivers what it promises) will kick serious arse:
Touch screen 3.5inch
3.5g HSDPA
In device maps of North America or Europe or BOTH!
Free GPS (its a GPS 1st, phone 2nd). Turn by turn voice prompted navigation. 6 Million POI`s
External media card slot. High Capacity compatible (Nuvi GPS' already are) add maps of Mexico, Europe, North America or Australia to the external card.
3mp camera with automatic GeoTagging of the pictures. Video capable.
WiFi
Google Local Search
Seamless automobile to pedestrian mode change over and it remembers the spot you took it out of the window mount so you can find your car in the mall parking lot.
Access to Garmin Online (an extra monthly cost I believe) sports scores, gas prices, news reports etc.
Email.
Multimedia player: MP3 and MPEG4/AAC

Allegedly outsourced to ASUS.

Its promising a lot. I hope they take their time and deliver it bug free.

I am personally torn between buying an iPhone II next week or waiting for the Nuvifone. I am sure that it (Nuvifone) will be better polished and it wont freeze at the its final form. No matter how good a product (iPhone) is, it is simply boring when everybody around has one too. Same as clothes, cars, haircuts, you name it.

I have played with the Iphone, kinda cool but I dont like Itunes and I want a card slot, I own an older IQue 3600, still works, and an HTC Mogul, good but needs the rest of the drivers. I would love to get a hands on this one and I hope it is open to more than one provider. As for all the I phone lovers and bashers, I dont care either way altho it is a bit of a pain filtering them out.

Joehead, I would respectfully ask you pull your head out of your nether regions and grow up. I believe most if not all pro-iPhone comments on here were in reponse to (unsubstantiated) anti-iPhone bashing. Being a BlackBerry owner (and fan), I understand the positive aspects of open phones that are available on multiple networks, etc. I despise AT&T and I love T-mobile, but I will be switching to an iPhone on July 11th because it is a great phone. That being said, what JTee said is absolutely true. The iPhone does what is does extremely well. It is not the best in all categories, but as a media player, it rocks. As a web browser, it rocks. As a stable-my-phone-doesn't-ever-freeze-or-crash-device---- it rocks. It brought a new standard of device quality to the cell phone market that is good for all, as now phone companies are trying to emulate the iPhone by making better products.

If this Nusi-Phone is great, then great. But remember that just like all the Apple fanboys come out when there is a new device, so do all the iPhone-haters.

What a kludgy-ass response time on that IU. I also enjoyed the canned "bounce" animation when the window has finished scrolling. It's a little overstated to be anything less than annoying. Lack of multi-touch is a little crippling with all the advantages in control shown by multi-touch phones. This is thing obviously shouldn't have been taken out of the oven yet. Pretty hilarious how people are signing onto this thing with their blood over such a unpolished demonstration.

From TFA:

"During my own hands-on where certain features weren’t avoided on purpose, the phone froze and its instability was noted by many others at CommunicAsia yesterday."

That's not what I'd look for in a "convergence device", straight up. I think I'll keep using my utter failure of an iPhone for a while longer, despite the crushing misery I feel every time it does what I want it to do, and well. Poor me.

Even if you don't like Apple's partnerships with certain carriers you should be thanking them for pushing this style of all-in-one, touch-based phone so hard. We would all still be jabbing dinosauric razr-style flip-phones still, our displays, lagging ten key presses behind, while we wait for confirmation that we've pressed the right buttons to send a picture message that requires a 10-digit password and random username for the recipient to check.

Yes, LG was the first to market with a touch-based phone of this type, but I'm sure to them it was more a curiosity and less a business model to be taken seriously. Now everyone's taking these phones seriously and we all benefit.

"Video is powered by “AdBrite”. If you’re using Firefox with AdBlock Plus, the video gets blocked."
Huh? Firefox 3 with Adblock Plus here, video plays just fine. Perhaps it's the "list" to which you subscribe in ABP? I'm using EasyList USA.

First of all, the nice thing about the iphone is that you deal with someone you can understand, even it is teenager with limited amounts of knowledge, I am asian and I can't understand what that moron is babbling about. Especially about the screen, he was asked a simple question, "Is it plastic", he didn't answer the question but talked about how state of the art it is, if that's how customer support is than screw that. Secondly, as reptile stated, he did not demonstrate any of it's capabilities to observe the speed at which it's processor works, I have yet to experience a mobile device that runs as smoothly as the iphone. Is the device program expandable, how much memory does it come with and is it expandable. The new iphone will be $199(8GB) and $299(16GB), beat that! Finally, can this mobile device compete with iphone ipod capabilities, album covers that scroll, music videos with no hesitation, and full length movies that play through beautifully. Bring it Garmin, show me what you can do real time and if you can out perform the iphone, I will give my iphone to one of my friends and buy this so called state of the art mobile phone.
