It has been a big seven days for portable music players: Apple released new iPods and a new iTunes client, and Microsoft released new Zunes and software to accompany them. But, if you ask us, today’s announcement of the new Slacker Portable G2 is one of the most interesting. Last year Slacker released its first portable device, the Slacker Portable, which allows you to take its Internet radio experience on-the-go. Now, they have updated the player to be more travel friendly. Check out our video hands-on with the new device below. We love all of the new aesthetic improvements made to the Slacker Portable, especially its shrunken size. However, as you can read in our full review, we wish it lasted longer on a charge.

I can’t wait to get one. The G1 (old player) worked great…even if it is super clunky and huge. This new G2 looks amazing! I’m actually happy keeping the old G1 player keeping it always plugged into my home stereo after I get a G2. I use it that way much of the time anyhow. Ordering now…

I found the video review of the G2 to be very helpful, but I especially enjoyed the sound effects of the police siren at the beginning.
