Video and Hands-on With gOS Cloud
January 9th, 2009 by Joanna Stern
Windows XP is getting pretty freakin’ boring on netbooks these days. As we told you a few months back the founders of gOS have been working on a Cloud based operating system for netbooks called none other than “Cloud.”
While it was first demoed at the Netbook World Congress, today we got some solid time to mess around with the basic OS or instant-on environment.
The browser based operating system is nothing but simple. Along the bottom of the screen is a dock that contains shortcuts to popular Web sites and services, including GMail, Google Reader, Meebo and Skype. Behind the dock lives a permanent Google Chrome Browser Firefox browser that has been skinned to look like Google Chrome. (Thanks Brad!)
Check out the video below for a details look of how it worked on a Gigabyte M912 netbook (it is also a tablet).
Also, Cloud can be installed with Windows or another operating system to be used as an instant on environment like Splashtop.
