Verizon Wireless Slashes Smart Phone Prices

Aug 3, 2009 02:29 PM EDT by Todd Haselton

verizon-wireless-logoVerizon Wireless today tinkered with its smart phone prices, dropping all but two of them down in price to $99, or the price of an iPhone 3G. The move has caught a few eyes, particularly those of us that are fed up with AT&T’s poor data and voice performance in the northeast as of late. As Boy Genius Report points out, it’s likely a sign that new devices are coming and that this is Verizon Wireless’ way to clear up some space on store shelves. Admittedly, a $99 Touch Pro is tempting, but we’ll probably see a Verizon Wireless Touch Pro 2  in the not too distance future. And despite the price drops, we’d still probably choose a BlackBerry Tour if we were to pick any phone in Verizon Wireless’ stable. Unfortunately, the Tour and the Samsung Saga are the two smart phones that didn’t receive a price drop.
