Verizon Wireless iPhone Requires $30 Unlimited Data Plan, $15 Plan Being Dropped

Verizon said today in its Q4 earnings report that only 26 percent of its 83 million retail postpaid subscribers have smart phones.  That’s a huge opportunity for growth. According the Wall Street Journal, the carrier will offer a $30 unlimited data plan but drop its $15 monthly, 150MB data plan. AT&T offers a $15, 200MB for its iPhones, and T-Mobile is touting a $10 data plan for its smart phones that also covers 200MB monthly. Will those who have been paying for just voice and text balk at 30 bucks? Some will, many more won’t.

The WSJ says Verizon plans to move back to a tiered pricing model once 4G phones hit the market, but will keep its $30 per month unlimited plan alive until sometime after the iPhone 4 launch. So what do you think.

  1. Jason Delkson Says:

Regardless of the data plan, I’m glad the iPhone is coming to Verizon. Android needs some healthy competition. If it weren’t for the exclusive contract, currently in place, Apple would have taken the number one spot in smartphone market share a long time ago.

I’m getting the t-shirt that proves it, too. 24/7 http://bit.ly/gBANOO
