Ultraportable Notebook Deals for Friends on The Go

t115-iNot long ago, sub 4-pound notebooks were the exclusive domain of CEOs and trust fund babies. In 2008, systems like the original MacBook Air,  ThinkPad X300, Voodoo Envy 233 impressed us with their low weights, but frightened us with prices well over $2,000. These systems make fantastic gifts, because even someone who already has a laptop will probably want something lighter and easier to carry.

Here are some of our favorite ultraportable notebook deals right now.

  • Toshiba Satellite T115 for $449. With its low voltage processor, the 11.6-inch T115 isn’t the fastest notebook in the world, but its extremely stylish, light (at 3.4 pounds), and has an incredible battery life of over 7 hours.  (Read Review | Buy)
  • Acer Aspire Timeline 1810T for $591.99 . This 11.6-inch system features a dual core Pentium SU7300 CPU, 320GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 and 802.11n Wi-Fi.  And did we mention that its only 3.2 pounds. We gave the Timeline 1810T an Editor’s Choice award for its great combination of portability, performance, and value. Best of all, it lasted nearly 9 hours on a charge. (Read Review | Buy)
