Budget: Satellite C Series

  • Price: Starts at $499
  • Size: 14 and 15 inches
  • Quick Specs: AMD, Intel Celeron, or Intel Core i3 options
  • The Takeaway: Geared toward students, the C Series looks like it can stand up to the rigors of academia.

Multimedia Lux: Satellite A655 and M645

  • Price: Starts at $729
  • Size: 16.3 and 14 inches
  • Quick Specs: Choice of Core i3, i5, and i7 CPUs, Nvidia Optimus, Blu-ray drive.

  • Price: $1,599
