Toshiba and BenQ Keep the Netbooks Coming

September 12th, 2008 by Joanna Stern

Yesterday we wrote about Samsung’s entrance into the netbook game and joining them today are Toshiba and Benq. JKK Mobile is reporting that Mexican site Fayerwayer.com has spotted a Toshiba netbook. According to the Mexican site, the Toshiba Satellite NB105 will be available in Mexico in November. Similarto  the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and Acer Aspire one, it has an 8.9-inch screen, Intel 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, 120GB hard drive, integrated webcam and Windows XP (no Linux version for the moment). While we haven’t heard back yet from our Toshiba representative in the U.S. we would not be  surprised to see this little guy hit the domestic market. Toshiba has been rumored to announce a mini-notebook during Q4 of 2008. Updated: According to our Toshiba rep: “Currently, there are no plans to launch the Satellite NB 105 in the U.S.” Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ is also rumored to launched a netbook in the the fourth quarter. According to EeePCNews.de, this one should be equipped with an 8.9-inch display, Intel 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5,400rpm HDD and a 3G option. Chances are that we won’t see the BenQ hit the U.S. market any time soon.

I finally tired of waitin for all these netbooks to drop, especailly the Dell Mini 12.1″…..

I found an online dealer with the MSI Wind, 6-cell in stock, with 2MG of RAM, for a reasonable $599….and it’s on the way.

To many netbooks, to little differences between them.
