Whether you don’t own an iOS device or you just like to take a different road from the rest of the pack, popular app Vine isn’t for everyone. Only available on iOS, the free video app, owned by Twitter, lets users create 6-second videos, with or without sound, that loop a la GIFs. Going hand in hand with Twitter’s idea of less is more, with the 6-second limit being similar to its 140-character limit, Vine has been popular from the start. But for those who aren’t big fans, there are video apps that serve as alternatives. Here are the top Vine alternatives, all of which are free and available on Android as well as iOS.
Like Vine, Viddy lets users pause and resume recording to capture multiple clips its its 30-second span. Plus, Viddy lets you pull in already-shot videos from your Library and apply one of 16 cool filters to your videos, à la Instagram, and music soundtracks. You can share videos with all of your followers or just opt to send them to a few via email or text message. Find people to follow based on Viddy's Featured and Popular users, such as Justin Bieber and Alicia Keys, or users you know more personally from Facebook, Twitter or your address book. The Home tab shows you recent videos from those you follow, while a Popular tab highlights what's hot right now.
