Feb 26, 2013 10:56 AM EDT by Molly Klinefelter, LAPTOP Assistant Editor

It’s 4 p.m. and your iPhone 5′s battery is at 12 percent. You start to sweat because you still have to dial into a remote meeting and send a slew of emails before you can call it a  day, and you know your beloved smartphone isn’t going to make it. You can avoid all of this anxiety, though, with a battery extender case. Since the iPhone 5 was released, a number of battery extender cases have come to market, all claiming to boost your Apple device’s battery by a significant amount. All of these cases are already on the market or will be available for retail in March. Here are our top picks.

Mophie Juice Pack Helium ($79.95)

Mophie, an industry leader in battery extenders has introduced its Juice Pack Helium for the iPhone 5. This accessory is 13-percent thinner than any previous Juice Pack. The idea was to make the case ultra-thin so users didn't feel like they were hauling around a battery. Equipped with a 1500mAh battery, the Juice Pack claims 80 percent more battery life, and the case's forward-ported acoustics ensures the iPhone's audio will be directed toward you. An LED indicator shows your iPhone 5's battery level, and a standby switch lets you use the Juice Pack's battery when you like. Available in Dark Metallic and Silver.

Please don’t use slideshows for this kind of thing. It’s a really crummy way to read and compare stuff like this.

Generally helpful review, but would be nice to see a matrix style comparison with specs like micro-USB vs lightning cable charger, size (thickness in mm), weight (really important as much as capacity even) and capacity in mAh (milliamp hours) to really compare them, and of course price.

These companies need to use the new Jolt cable connection instead of the Micro USB
