No win 7 tablet when they have far superior notetaking/pdf mark up capabilities?

So I suppose you think students will just use tablets for web surfing, movies and games?

It is an absolute joke to try to write serious notes on devices like the ipad. Ipads are great consumption devices but this article is way off.

    Should be
    Fujutsu Q550
    Thinkpad tablet
    Fujitsu T580
    HTC flyer
    etc.
ie those with proper active digitizers.
Add an ipad at the end if you like but make sure you caution about the poor stlyus input and poor palm rejection (if any)

I touble that. a good stylus is essential to students. the tablets in this foto series are all consumer tablets :(

I am a graduate school student in the market for my first tablet but I feel very overwhelmed with the options, o/s and models on the market.

I primarily would view pdf/powerpoints, school related websurf, listen/record audio of lectures, view, type, & edit word/text files – preferably with USB keyboard since I am uncertain about touchpad typing & USB option for jump drives or data transfer between systems. I currently don’t care so much about screen resolution, cameras, 3G/4G, watching HD movies or using it as a book reader, which seems to be what most of the tablet reviews talk about.

It would be great to get something sturdy in case I drop it and I don’t mind paying for quality. I am leaning toward tablet over another netbook do to my current 2 year old EeE PC WIN7 netbook’s poor performance.

That being said do you think anything the market fits my bill or should I wait for one of the tablets that are about to come out like the ASUS transformer Infinity? Fujitusu Q550 caught my eye as it seems rugged, security from theft, and it is running Win 7 (for compatibility w/my current file library) but then do I have to worry about viruses & trojans?

I dont mind buying an older model (Xoom, etc) as well or waiting a little longer for new releases. I have limited experience but apple is not my first choice. Thanks in advance.

I cant believe nobody has mentioned the Asus SL101 aka the Asus Slider. Its perfect for note-taking…..

I agree with most comments. Is this blog really tailored to students or those just wanting something appealing in their hands… better yet as someone who is a first timer with a tablet as a all in one for school the author doesn’t even explain how any of these are beneficial. There is virtually no comparison as to why one is better or worse than the other so I can make better judgment or even consider something new about a tablet I’ve never heard of. Anyway awful blog totally a waste of time.
