Top 10 Tablets of CES 2011

January 10th, 2011 by Mark Spoonauer, LAPTOP Editor in Chief

We came, we saw, we touched. This year’s CES was all about tablets, and we went hands-on with lots of them. Some of these slates run Android 3.0 (or at least they will, when the software is ready), others run Windows 7, and one ran a certain OS made by RIM. We also saw an interesting mix of designs, from 7-inch tablets with stylus input to models with slide-out keyboards. With at least 40 tablets announced during the show, we wanted to narrow the field to those models that impressed us most.

Motorola Xoom

The first Android 3.0 tablet is coming to Verizon Wireless, and the software is unlike anything you've seen before from Google. The OS has a new look and feel that's optimized for the Xoom's bright and crisp 10-inch display (1280 x 800 pixels). We're talking improved multitasking, a 3D desktop with more interactive widgets, and tabbed web browsing. Plus, the Xoom will offer video and voice chat via it's front-facing camera. The hardware and software look so good we gave this slate our Best of CES Award.

None of them are close to Ipad because they are NOT for sale. They are all probably a pipe dream.
