Now that the iPad is nearing its three-month anniversary, we just have one question. When is someone else going to step up to the plate and give Apple some decent competition? Well, based on our list of the top 10 most anticipated tablets, you don’t have to wait that much longer. And it’s not just Android that’s going up against Apple; there’s a couple of solid Windows 7 slates that made the cut, plus a custom Linux tablet with two mammoth screens. So whether you’re looking for a front-facing webcam, Flash support, or just something without an Apple logo, you’ll find plenty of compelling contenders here.

Dell Streak

Is it a tablet or a phone? Actually, it’s both. Dell’s first Android-powered slate boasts a 5-inch display that’s ideal for surfing the full web on the go. And, unlike other tablets powered by Google’s OS, the Streak can access the Android Market for downloading 50,000-plus apps. The included HDMI Dock turns the Streak into a multimedia hub with no extra software or apps required. Other top-of-the-line specs include a 1-GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 5-MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash, and microSD memory up to 32GB. It goes on sale at the end of July and Dell speculated that a ballpark price for the unlocked version would be around $499. No word yet on subsidized pricing, but this is definitely one tablet we can’t wait to try.
