Smartphones and tablets have become the go-to gaming systems for small children, and there is a cornucopia of games out there to choose from. While there is nothing wrong with apps that are mindless fun, it never hurts for your children to learn a thing or two while they are enjoying themselves. That’s where we come in. We’ve scoured Apple’s App Store and the Android Market for the best kid-friendly programs. So grab your mobile device, and start downloading.

Cut the Rope

Chances are you've either played or at least heard of Cut the Rope, the game where your sole purpose is to feed candy to a cute green monster named, Om Nom. The problem? The candy is hanging from a rope that you, as the title implies, need to cut down for Om Nom.

But cutting the rope isn't as easy as it sounds. You'll also need to avoid getting the candy caught on obstacles or stolen by enemies crawling around the level. If your child loves Angry Birds, but needs a change of pace, Cut the Rope is the way to go.
