This Week in Reviews [March 4 - 8]

Mar 9, 2013 11:21 AM EDT by Molly Klinefelter, LAPTOP Assistant Editor

This week we checked out two notebooks: an HP device and a hard-core gaming system. We also got to test out a helmet cam on the slopes of the Alps, as well as a video camera/sunglasses hybrid that eliminates the awkwardness of helmet cams. A pair of customizable headphones and a innovatively-designed external hard drive round out the reviews. Check out an overview of LAPTOP’s reviews this week, especially a streaming set-top box that features an easy-to-use search interface and a built-in headphone jack on its remote for private listening for just $99.

HP Pavilion g6z-2200

HP is known for putting out a good selection of solid budget notebooks, and its Pavilion line now comes with a Windows 8 software upgrade and a 2.7-GHz AMD dual-core A6 processor. For under $500, the HP Pavilion g6z-2200 comes with Dolby audio and a roomy keyboard. When we reviewed the g6z-2200, we were impressed with its performance based on its price, and appreciated its multiple color options, quality speakers and included optical drive.
