The Toshiba Satellite T115 Reviewed – Netbook Looks, Notebook Guts

The Toshiba Satellite T115 is the kind of computer that muddies the line between netbooks and notebooks. Judging from discussions we’ve had on this blog recently, the definition of netbook that we go by or that computer and operating system makers go by may not be the one consumers go by.
We classify the T115 as an ultaportable. It’s 11.6 inches, 3.4 pounds and lasts over 7 hours on a charge. But the CPU inside is an ultra low voltage model, not a netbook model. So we (and Toshiba) don’t label it a netbook. However, if you sit this next to an HP Mini 311 or a Samsung NC20 in a store, how do you convey the difference to consumers? As we’ve seen, big box salespeople already don’t know much about 10 inch netbooks, what will having systems like the T115 and the Acer Aspire 1410 do to them?
Whatever you call it, the T115 delivers better performance than Atom-based systems, besting even the Mini 311 in one benchmark. Read the full review to see how well it does against the other not-a-netbook 11.6 ULV systems.
