Texas Instruments Shows Off Speedy Concept E-Reader
February 17th, 2010 by Dana Wollman
While most of the e-Reader concepts we saw at CES focused on the display– adding color, making it less reflective– Texas Instrument is taking a different tack. Its e-Reader concept, on display at Mobile World Congress, demonstrates how TI’s technology can help users flip pages faster, addressing a common complaint against e-Readers.
Texas Instruments eBook Development Platform, designed for e-Readers with 9.7-inch screens, sends the reader into sleep mode once the user has turned the page. This means that the device conserves energy, expandings its battery life to 14,800 page turns and up to four weeks of idle time. It also means that when you’re ready to turn to the next page, the sleeping machine is poised to awaken quickly, and turn the page just as rapidly.
