T-Mobile To Sell BlackBerry Curve 8900
January 7th, 2009 by Todd Haselton
T-Mobile just announced that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 would be available to its customers in February.
Those that are big fans of the original Curve will appreciate the features that make it most similar to the high-end BlackBerry Bold like its beautiful 2.44-inch 480 x 360 display and thin form factor. While it sports premium features like a 3.2MP camera, a microSD slot for loading up to 16GB of additional storage, and Wi-Fi connectivity, it’s unfortunate that this is an EDGE-only data phone. That means you can’t surf at 3G speeds like you can with the BlackBerry Bold.
Still, we think if it’s priced around $99 it will be a very tempting for first time smartphone users that want the functionality of a smartphone but don’t necessarily need the 3G data speeds everywhere they go. We think a 3G version on AT&T would be the most ideal, since AT&T has a larger 3G network than T-Mobile.
Pricing for the Curve 8900 has not yet been announced but you can expect to grab one online or in a T-Mobile store in February.
