Mobility in the Victorian Age

If you spend any time in the geekier quarters of the Internet, you’ve probably heard of Steampunk. Most often associated with fancy hipsters dressed in outfits from the Victorian era, steampunk actually has its tendrils in a lot of different sub-cultures, including the techmodders. The main idea behind steampunk is to apply a Victorian aesthetic to modern technology. After all, one of the roots of steampunk came from imagining that Charles Babbage succeeded in building a mechanical computer, thus speeding up the advance of technology. So there are plenty of steampunk computers and peripherals and such. Fantasy Magazine put together a list of Top 10 Gadgets they love, and among them are a steampunk laptop, mouse, cell phone, and Bluetooth headset. The laptop is not exactly mobile, but it’s gorgeous. Check out the list here.
