Sprint, Verizon Wireless to Add Wi-Fi in All Future Smart Phones
If you’re thinking about scrambling out to grab a Verizon Wireless or Sprint BlackBerry Tour ($49.99) in the coming week, you might want to think twice.
According to Boy Genius Report, both Verizon Wireless and Sprint are planning to add full Wi-Fi capabilities to all smart phone devices in the future. Sure, Wi-Fi helps increase browsing speeds so that you can load full HTML Web sites faster, but it’s also a requirement for stellar applications like PrimeTime2Go which lets you download and play back full length TV episodes, like Lost and The Office, from major TV networks.
The Tour remains one of our favorite smart phones out there, so if there’s even a slim chance of it being updated with Wi-Fi, we’d wait for it.
