Sprint Tells Palm Pre The End is Near

Nov 16, 2010 02:47 PM EDT by Anna Attkisson, LAPTOP Managing Editor

According to a “trusted Sprint source” for PreCentral.net, the original Palm Pre for Sprint has been marked for End Of Life (a.k.a. EOL, a.k.a. death). That means this Editors’ Choice-winning device will no longer be marketed, made, promoted, or sold once the existing stockpiles are gone (there are only hundreds estimated to be left). Sprint never got in on the Palm Pre Plus (which won our Smart Phone Madness reader vote this year), and there’s still no word on whether Sprint will carry the Palm Pre 2. PreCentral.net says that it’s been 528 days since the first of the Palm Pre’s made it into consumers hands. Let’s hope it won’t be that long until we see the next version come around.
