Sprint Goes Green: Announces Eco-friendly Reclaim QWERTY Phone

reclaimgreenangleopen1Sprint today announced the $50 Samsung Reclaim, an “eco-friendly” feature phone with a full QWERTY keyboard that’s 80-percent recyclable. The announcement coincides with a host of Sprint’s new environmental initiatives. The carrier is setting long-term goals to focus on environmental design in a push to be environmentally responsible by reducing paper usage by 30 percent during the next five years. 40-percent of the Reclaim’s shell is made from corn while the rest of the unit is free of dangerous materials like PVS, pthalates, and low on flame retardants. $2 of every phone sold with go to the Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre program. Samsung isn’t the only one creating eco-friendly devices these days. Motorola announced its Renew phone earlier this year for T-Mobile and Nokia also launched its Evolve phone, which is also 80 percent recyclable, last year. The Reclaim will be available in blue and green on August 16th.
