Spring Cleaning the Eee PC 4G XP
April 23rd, 2008 by Joanna Stern
Spring has sprung here in New York City: The sky is blue and the grass (what we have of it) is green. It is not to dissimilar to the Microsoft XP desktop on our ASUS Eee PC 4G XP. The system that went on sale at Best Buy a few weeks ago runs the Microsoft operating system smoothly, but one of our biggest issues with the system is its limited storage size. The 4GB SSD system is quick, but even quicker to fill up. To get into the spring mode we wanted to take a shot at cleaning off our Eee PC 4G XP, which came out of the box with only 954MB of free disk space. Our end goal was to see if we could install Microsoft Office—which requires a hefty 1.6 GB of space to be installed. Martha Stewart was busy, so we got to the Eee PC spring cleaning ourselves. Check out the step-by-step tips we took to clean off our Eee PC and successfully install Microsoft Office 2007.
