Sony Netbook Appears on FCC?
December 1st, 2008 by Joanna Stern
With Sony hinting that they would unveil a netbook at a large electronics show in early 2009 and with CES only about a month away, we are putting two and two together and assuming this small notebook on the FCC’s site is Sony’s entrance into the mini-notebook market.
Thanks to Engadget’s tip this morning we were able to dig up some details of the mysterious Sony laptop that is appearing on the FCC page. Though we are disappointed in the lack of images (all there is is the one below), there are tests for Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n wireless, and Qualcomm’s Gobi chipset.
From the image it looks like the chassis of the baby VAIO (the model number is listed as PCG-1P1L) is pretty compact. As Engadget points out, the label size is 128-mm wide and eyeballing the bottom of the system looks like the little guy is about 9 or 10 inches wide. Fingers crossed for a 10-inch display. There are no hints as to processor or specs, but the label does leave a spot for a Windows label.
