Sony Daily Edition Reviewed: Big Screen + 3G + Touch

Sony’s current generation of eReaders all have something cool and notable to recommend them. The Pocket Edition is inexpensive (relatively) and the Touch Edition has a touchscreen (naturally). Now comes the Daily Edition, which also incorporates touch but adds 3G connectivity and a larger, 7-inch screen. Not as large as the Entourage Edge or Plastic Logic Que, the Daily Edition fits in the narrow space between traditional eReader sizes (around 6 inches) and big, specialized devices (9.7 and up). The only other major player in a similar size (at the moment) is the iRex DR800SG, which is 8 inches. That is to say, eReaders are mid-evolution, and it’s hard to see how thigs will shake out, in the end. The Daily Edition is a solid entrant into the category, though, and worth a look if you want something that offers more lines of text. With the ability to read EPUB books from multiple sources (including libraries) and the ability to download books over the air, Sony has hit many of the right notes.
