Smartphone Madness 2012 Game 2: Nokia Lumia 710 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note. Voting Ends 3/14 at 9 a.m. EST

Smartphone Madness 2012As we head into Game 2 of the 2012 Smartphone Madness competition, we want to take a second to congratulate Huawei Ascend D Quad for winning Game 1. Huawei defeated the Apple iPhone 4S by a margin of 17 percent, thanks to your votes.

Today’s competition pits the Nokia Lumia 710 against the Samsung Galaxy Note. These two devices will duke it out for your votes from now until tomorrow, March 14th at 9 a.m. EST, and who will win is totally up to you, smartphone fans. But before you vote, lets look back at their records this season.

Nokia Lumia 710 Smartphone MadnessThe Windows Phone 7.5-powered Nokia Lumia 710 for T-Mobile earned 4 stars during our review thanks to its affordable $49.99 price, snappy performance, intuitive interface and bright 3.7-inch display. We weren’t trilled with the stiff front buttons and the lack of a front-facing camera, or with the grainy photos we took in low light, but the Lumia 710 does offer free GPS navigation. Overall, though, the Nokia Lumia 710 is a great choice for consumers looking to make the leap from feature phones to smartphones, and is favored to win this competition.

Samsung Galaxy Note Smartphone MadnessBut don’t count the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Note out. On AT&T’s 4G LTE network, this smartphone offers some unique and compelling features that could give it the edge it needs to win. The Galaxy Note not only offers blazingly-fast data speeds, it comes with a smart stylus that works with specific apps that help make this as much tablet as phone. You might call it the pajama jeans of the smartphone world. The Note offers a striking 720p display and sports a crisp (if slow) 8-megapixel camera. Unfortunately, the handwriting recognition wasn’t spot on and we experienced some palm rejection issues, which only earned this phone 3 stars.

So which is better? That’s up to you, as we settle in to watch these two competitors face off. Vote now or go home.

Tomorrow, the ASUS PadFone will compete against the Samsung Galaxy S II in Game 3. Voting will start at 10:00 a.m. EST.

These things long ago ceased being anything of value. When I see a stupid phone like Huawei beat the 4S by what–17 percent–and I wonder at the sanity of the so-called voters. Since I doubt they can be insane, I must conclude that they either have an agenda, or are clueless–neither of which is flattering. I suspect the former, though–the “anything but Apple” movement, and the “nothing but Android” crowd. If the Nokia doesn’t win this round, I won’t be amazed, only disappointed.

  2. Ernie Says:

I am super satisfied with my Lumia 710! Affordable, solid phone, and gets the job done fast! No wonder it has high customer satisfaction ratings! Yeeee!

  4. James Says:

I don’t even like android and I’m glad the Huawei won. There’s nothing special about the iPhone 4s, it’s boring and disappointing.

it’s easy to vote on stupid polls than with with your wallet. i’d love to see how many units were actually sold for each.

  9. Dave Says:

Note vs. Lumia voting results are kind of crazily in favor of Lumia. After owning a Note for over a month now, I can honestly say I will never go back to anything less than 5″ screen. I don’t carry around a tablet anymore because I pretty much do everything on the Note.

  10. GaryC Says:

Hmm these results look kinda dodgy tbh, I own neither of these devices (currently an iphone 3gs about to change!)

The Note is a vastly superior device in every aspect………………….looks like the Nokia Fanbois are tilting the polls, I know this was advertised on WMPoweruser for one……….

    Kinda pointless

  11. AndyS Says:

the nokia lumia 710 is a great smartphone great quality style and affordability the note is good but what difference is there between it and a big android android was and forever will be buggy so for those calling foul quit complaining and eat it

  12. mark Says:

The note is to big for most plus the phone is 299 with contract yet I bought a nokia lumia brand new off eBay for 250 without extending my contract plus the nokia phones has are better design.

  13. Brad Says:

If the phones were the same price, I’d go for the Note, but since the Nokia is almost half the price of the Note, I voted for the Nokia. It’s far better value for money.

  14. Calvin Says:

Must have been posted on a bunch of windows websites. The Note destroys the Lumias. Oh well this doesn’t prove anything.

  15. eugenkt Says:

I own a Nokia lumia 710 and I don’t think its better than note, after all its better because of twice as power and android…
    Sorry for my english
