This week, we’ve seen two incredibly hot smart phones hit the market. The long-awaited iPhone 4 finally started shipping and Motorola’s Droid X took the Android world by storm. Both of these phones offer high-resolution, back-facing cameras capable of filming at 720p, but which shoots the best video? Apple touts the iPhone 4′s backside illuminated sensor, but does that really make a difference?

To find out which phone’s video recording reigns supreme, we recorded both an indoor and an outdoor scene with each phone. The videos for each are embedded below. Check them out then tell us, which phone’s video you prefer by voting in our poll.

Looking at the poll results, I’m wondering if everybody watched the same videos I did! In the interior shot, the iPhone clearly got exposure and color balance over the Droid. Outside shots were, to me inconclusive, but the iPhone clearly led on the interior

you should take a look at both of the video again…

iphone indoor video are over exposed and the colors are oversaturated.

look at how the get buildings out the window get over exposed in the iphone indoor video.
look at the table, so ornage that you cant even make out the wood texture.

then look at the droids, that balance.
    wood texture is visable.
    buildings are always visable.

    droid wins

Those Droid Fans are Crazy. On Votes the Droid X wins. But in reality the iPHone4 has better video indoors. And outdoors are almost identical; except iPhone the colors looks more vivid. So; iPhone Wins here and want a better source. Read THIS!

wow the iphone 4 colours are way to saturated, too much detail lost. droid x is much better

iPhone has way better audio quality. Far more noticeable than the video difference was (to me at least).

The video quality is comparable on two different facets. The DroidX does have a better color balance, but it still looks like it was taken on a phone (lower frame rate). The iPhone is much smoother, but the balance is slightly off. So whichever is more important to each person I guess.

I wonder if both of these issues could be improved via software.
