Skype Raises Some Connection Fees
September 1st, 2009 by K. T. Bradford
Starting on September 6th, your international Skype calls may get a bit more expensive. The company quietly announced new connection fees for calls to countries outside of the Global Rate destinations. There are 30 Global Rate countries, including the US, UK, Canada, France, and Italy. Any country not included on the Global Rate list will cost an extra 4 to 4.6 cents (in US dollars) extra to connect to. The price increase doesn’t affect per-minute rates, which vary from country to country, nor Skype users with flat-fee subscriptions. However, Skype will soon be in new hands, which means there could be more major changes ahead.
