Skyfire Version .8 vs. Safari on iPhone 3G Video
September 26th, 2008 by Todd Haselton
We recently downloaded and installed Skyfire 0.8 on our Sprint Mogul, running Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and we liked the browser so much that we decided to pit it against our other favorite mobile browser: Safari. We’ve speed tested various browsers against the iPhone’s Safari in the past, but this is the first chance we had to compare it to Skyfire’s final beta.
As you’ll see in the video, Skyfire version 0.8 totally beat Safari in speed tests and embedded media support. But still, Safari has a much better zoom feature and is more fun to use since it takes advantage of the iPhone’s beautiful display while Skyfire 0.8 is locked to Windows Mobile devices.
There’s one thing to take away from this: Windows Mobile users now have a browser to call their own that drastically enhances the Web surfing on their handsets. Check out the video comparisons below.

I really hope Window Mobile devices get a boost when it comes to screens. Skyfire is clearly better speed and features supported than Safari…although it requires a server.
Safari still clearly beats it when it comes to zooming, ease of use and clearity.
