Second Gen Vivienne Tam Netbook Trades Flowers for Butterflies

Vivienne Tam Second Edition HP MiniThe pairing of fashion and technology seems to be more lasting than the usual trend as the number of gadgets making their debuts during Fashion Week attests. Over the weekend HP and Vivienne Tam unveiled the second generation Digital Clutch which trades in peonies for butterflies. Yes, butterflies. However, Brad Linder declared the design “a little less girly” than the first generation and would even consider letting people see him using it. This amuses me because I’m not sure if I would. The golden brown color is appealing and less likely to be pegged feminine, but those butterflies are huge.

Still, it takes all types. And I’ve always been in favor of netbooks with designs and non-standard color choices. Plus it’s nice to see a laptop made to appeal to women that doesn’t assume we all want something baby pink.

Would you buy a netbook with this design?

Sorry, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

I love the basic colour of the notebook. Not all women are “pink princesses”. The butterflies are novel, although I would prefer them a tad smaller. Certainly I would buy this notebook if the price was affordable.
