I recently bought a $2,000.00+ Sony Vaio Business laptop just to play a DVD presentation to prospective clients in the mortgage market. After spending $90.00 to have all the crapware removed from this Custom-built, Business laptop it still failed to play ANY DVD with audio at an audible level! Even after 2 hours on the phone with Sony Technical Assistance at the Tier II level, they couldn't even get one off their shelf to work! Not finished yet... Best Buy sent me two more samples of the same spec model Vaio, and no one I could find could get either one of 'em to work. There are 3 (three) different audio drivers between the optical drive and the speakers on these abortions, and even after removing all three, and re-loading WinDVD, and the other two seperately, I sent all three back! Best Buy actually sent me a $500.00 Best Buy Gift Card just to pacify my outrage. The good news is this...
I STROLLED INTO AN APPLE STORE AND AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER, WAS USING MY NEW MACBOOK PRO TO DEMONSTRATE MY MORTGAGE SOLUTION TO A PROSPECTIVE CLIENT! Isn't that a novel concept... using a laptop to do something without hunting for drivers to download off the web first! I'll NEVER go back!!!
