Samsung to Release 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab?

February 23rd, 2011 by Jamall Oluokun

According to rumors from various tech blogs, Samsung is gearing up to release an 8.9-inch tablet to sit in between their current 7-inch Galaxy Tab and the recently announced Galaxy Tab 10.1. The rumored device is said to have similar specs to its larger 10.1 cousin and will come with Android 3.0 if and when it launches.

If the rumors pan out, Samsung will have Android based touchscreen devices  (mp3 players, smart phones, and tablets), with 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 inch screen sizes. No word yet on what OS the 8.9-incher will have or any other specs, though we assume it will have Honeycomb and a 1280 x 800 resolution display as those are becoming standards.

In defense of the Samsung Galaxy Tab (and why it’s better than an Ipad) http://goo.gl/gV2UK

Go Samsung! That was an awesome move to change the design of the Galaxy Tab after the iPad was released! I am so excited to get the Galaxy Tab. I really like the 8.9″ tablet. It seems portable and yet still has a large screen. As soon as I get the tablet, I am going to download the DISH Remote Access app. This app when paired with my 922 SlingLoaded receiver will allow me to stream live TV or my recordings to my tablet! As a customer and employee of DISH Network, I have had a lot of time to play around with the app on my Samsung Galaxy S 4G, and I believe that the app will work wonders on the Galaxy Tab! I can’t wait until it comes out this summer. Hopefully it won’ be too long of a wait! I think it would be cool if Samsung designed different gadgets with different sized screens. Hopefully they do!
