Until recently gadget makers have been fighting for that spot in your pocket, your purse, or the palm of your hand. But today’s biggest mobile vendors will soon be fighting for your wrist. Samsung is expected to be the first major brand to launch a wrist-worn gadget, beating Apple’s rumored iWatch to market. Reportedly dubbed the Galaxy Gear, Samsung’s rumored smartwatch is expected to yank some features from its spacious smartphones and translate them to a much smaller screen. We’re waiting to hear more about the Galaxy Gear at Samsung’s Sept. 4th event, but here’s what we know so far about this potentially groundbreaking product.
UPDATE: Here is our hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch.
Samsung’s smartwatch is expected to sport a 2.5 inch OLED display that will measure 3 inches with its case, according to GigaOM. Previous rumors from Sam Mobile have suggested that the watch would launch with 1.67-inch display, but the Samsung news blog seems to be siding with GigaOM on this one. The Galaxy Gear’s display is expected to come with a 320 x 320 resolution that supports touch.
