Samsung Officially Launches 8MP T-Mobile Memoir Phone

February 15th, 2009 by Todd Haselton

Samsung MemoirSamsung just officially released its $249.99 Memoir phone to T-Mobille. The device is the first US phone to sport an 8-megapixel camera, and it also uses Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user interface which lets users drag and drop icons off of a home screen sidebar directly to the desktop. When you’re done using a given application, simply close it or drag it back to the side launchbar.

Helena Christensen was the marquee speaker at the event and her photos were on display to show off the phone’s capabilties. She reminded us that “they call it a phone camera, or a camera phone, whichever way you like it.” She continued by saying that the Memoir lets her indulge her two biggest passions: taking pictures and talking on the phone.

The device looks compelling enough at first blush; we were impressed with it during our brief hands-on. We’ll hold our final opinion until we get a review unit to test.
