Samsung Infuse 4G is AT&T’s First HSPA+ Phone, Rocks Huge 4.5-inch Screen

For months AT&T has sat on its hands while 4G phones like the Evo 4G and myTouch 4G got all the attention. That changes today, or at least whenever Ma Bell gets around to selling the new Samsung Infuse 4G. This Android 2.2 handset is the first to ride on AT&T’s HSPA+ network, and it’s not just big on speed.

The Infuse sports a mammoth 4.5-inch display with Samsung’s new Super AMOLED Plus display. What does the Plus stand for? The screen features 50 percent more sub-pixels, which means better contrast and outdoor readability. Samsung also includes a 1.2-GHz processor (a step up from the 1-GHz Hummingbird CPU on current Galaxy S phones), a 1.3-MP front-facing camera, and a 8-MP rear camera with autofocus and flash.

When we held an early unit in our hands, the Infuse felt almost too large to hold up to one’s noggin, but it’s not Dell Streak big. We can’t wait to see what kind of speeds this smart phone can acheive. No word yet on availability and pricing, but at least you can enjoy some beauty shots below.
