Rumor: Zune Phone to Debut at Mobile World Congress, Will Run on Nvidia Tegra
February 1st, 2010 by Dana Wollman
Forget those stale Verizon iPhone rumors. I’m much more interested in the Zune phone. Spanish blog MuyComputer claims it will debut at Mobile World Congress, which takes place in Barcelona in two weeks. The phone is rumored to run on Nvidia Tegra, and will be based on Windows Mobile 7, which I also expect to be announced at MWC. Other rumored specs include an HDMI port, 480 x 272 screen, and a weight of 2.45 ounces. There’s been much talk of so-called iPhone killers (a name I hate, by the way), but if Microsoft came out with a phone whose interface matched its Zune player, that would be one close allegory to the iPhone indeed. Also, that’s precisely the kind of integration Microsoft has been sorely lacking. I’ll be at Mobile World Congress covering breaking news and doing hands-on with hot new products. Stay tuned for detailed coverage of Windows Mobile 7 and any Zune phone, should either or both surface.
