RIM: Fastest Growing Company in the World
August 18th, 2009 by K. T. Bradford
Though Steve Jobs boasted that Apple sold more phones than RIM (Reasearch in Motion), the BlackBerry maker continues to innovate and grow. According to Fortune, it’s the fastest-growing company in the world. This is not all that shocking. The company makes a suite of smartphones so necessary to mainstream and business consumers alike that they’ve earned the nickname Crackberry. According to jkOnTheRun, RIM has maintained a 77% increase in revenue in the past three years. Though BlackBerry smartphones have become very attractive to mainstream consumers, there’s no doubt that enterprise users are the main force driving the company’s success. The iPhone is great for play but not as desireable for work. Yes, there are business apps for the iPhone, but as many others have noted, the limitations of the phone itself and the AT&T network are marks against the device’s productivity score. For now BlackBerry is still the king of business. Kind of reminds you of Microsoft and Apple’s PC wars, doesn’t it?
