Qik Now Available in iTunes App Store
August 13th, 2009 by Todd Haselton
Own an iPhone 3GS? You no longer have to jailbreak your iPhone just to stream live video to the Web. Qik just announced that you can download its application from the iTunes App Store, for free. Unfortunately, the current version of Qik only works over Wi-Fi, though a spokesperson told us that the company is working on adding 3G support. Live streaming does not work yet either as you can record videos, but they won’t play in real-time. Qik is great for sharing video with multiple people at once, in real time. Say for example, you’re at a soccer game and you want grandma to watch from home. Just fire up Qik, direct Grandma to your personal Qik page, and you’re all set. But Qik isn’t just about streaming, you can also upload prerecorded videos up to your Qik account for public or private viewing, or directly to your personal Web site, Facebook, and YouTube.
