Our Samsung NC10 Arrives and Gets Unboxed
After a weekend of feverishly tracking our Samsung NC10 ($339.00) package en route from Korea, the package arrived at our office this morning. To say we are excited about getting our hands on this netbook is an understatement.
From my early impressions, its comfortable keyboard and six-cell battery could surely rival our category favorite, the MSI Wind. Our imported Samsung NC10, though it has a Korean keyboard and Windows XP, has the same specs as the system that will be available in the U.S. for $499. It has a 1.6-GHz Atom Processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g wireless, and Bluetooth 2.0.
After the jump, watch the video of my first impressions of the new 10-inch laptop. Stay tuned for our full review in the coming days.

Joanna, please, tell us about the display!
Is it back-lit LED? Is it a decent LCD? How does it compare to other netbooks?
Thanks for sharing this info with us.

Just checked the review(great to have it so fast btw, thanks!), what’s really worrying me is that is says 1GB RAM and Upgradeable to: 1GB RAM! So it can not be upgraded? That seems very odd, because all other netbooks with the same processor and 945GMA set are upgradeable to 2GB. So, is this a typo or is the Samsung truly not capable of handling 2GB? Hope to get this answer soon…

does the NC10 support two-finger-scrolling or “circular-motion”-scrolling as shown here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShmqUHR7RO0 ?
thx

What is the size of the power unit?

I am awaiting the second round of test regarding the battery life because of the uncertainty about the 7hours found the first time.
so awaiting new test (conditions & durations) to make real comparison with other netbooks.
As autonomy is key to me I really wait for this information to choose between the samsung nc10 & the msi wind U100
I am really impressed by review quality – so please continue & update.
Thank you to Joanna & all the team

Thought you might be interested to know the first batch has been delivered here to the UK retailers, or the white version has! Having seen the quick review from Joanne I took a chance and put in a pre-order. Have a feeling it will get very popular and be in short supply soon.
Mine is in transit and will be arriving here next week on monday.

I am thinking about purchasing the UK version for use in the US. Why? To get the black one. Biggest concern is the AC adapter. Wondering if someone could enlighten me on what size the plug is on this and what the proper power specs on the adapter are.

With regard to your query on the supplied power unit I have it in front of me.
Length of case 9.5cm, width 4cm and height 2.8cm and quite light. It has the great advantage of the mains input being via a figure of eight plug, not permanently attached. You could get, or make, a lead specifically for american use with a two pinpower plug attached. I use this type permanently here anyhow with a shaver type adaptor for UK use. It reduces clutter when travelling.
The spec is 100-240v AC, 1.2A
Op 19v 2.1A
The unit runs quite cool, better than a lot of others and charges the PC from 10% to 100% in approx 2 – 2.5hrs.

When will this netbook finally arrive in the US?
November 16th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Ray: The white one is on stock now in the US. The blue one is available for pre-orders. I’ve heard that Amazon started shipping pre-ordered white ones last Friday:
