Opera Announces iPhone Browser, Apple Smackdown Expected
February 10th, 2010 by Dana Wollman
Today, Opera announced Opera Mini, a browser for the iPhone. With more than 140,000 apps in the App store catalog, this might not seem like news. But given that Apple hasn’t once approved a third-party browser (no, pretty skins don’t count), I’m bemused and a bit taken aback by Opera’s optimism and, well, chutzpah.
No other details are available for now, but the browser will be on display at Mobile World Congress, where I’ll be reporting next week. Stay tuned for a sneak peek because if we know Apple, you might never get one yourself.
